Car and Drivers 2018 Lightning Lap competition is in the books, and the $120,000 2019 Corvette ZR1 took the $500,000 2017 Ford GT to the woodshed. According to the Lightning Lap competition results, the ZR1 was able to rip off a lap that was six seconds faster than the 2017 Ford GT. The ZR1 outpaced the Ford GT with a hot lap of 2:39.5, compared to the Ford GT’s 2:45.5 lap, respectively.
There were a few other surprises as well, including a 2:53.8 hot lap pulled off by the 2018 Ford Mustang GT, with the Performance Pack 2 equipped. This time is a full three seconds faster than the 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS’s 2:56.7 hotlap.
And the most inspirational award goes to the 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T, with a blistering lap time of 3:18.4
